Date of Hike: December 11-12, 2010

Trail Conditions:

Wilderness – 2 to 3 inches of fluffy snow. Ties still exposed.

Black Pond – the same

Bushwhack – followed footprints from previous bushwhackers (?) right through the low-lying, boggy areas. But it got us where we were headed.

Lincoln Brook – more fluffy snow, gradually getting a little deeper. A few icy patches. Stream crossing very easy, with good ice and/or plenty of good footing. Camped right above the last stream crossing.

Brutus bushwhack – again followed footprints. If anyone else follows the footprints make sure to follow the path to the right.

Special Equipment Required: Microspikes for stream crossings.

Comments: I imagine most of the footprints are now gone after the rain on Sunday afternoon. No one seemed to have continued along Lincoln Brook to the Owl’s Head Path – the bushwhack appears to be the “done” thing now.
