From the Garden to Slant Rock trail wellpacked with some minor blowdown. Thereafter trail not well traveled with at least 2-3' of snow from the gorge headwall to treeline. Summit cones in snow crust and ice which was pretty thin on the south side of Little Haystack, making for very tricky climbing on this steep section. Used snowshoes to treeline, then crampons and ice axe. Only people I saw all day were a couple of folks on distant Marcy.
