Skylight & Gray 1/4/11

Four of us did the hike from ADK Loj via the Lake Arnold and Feldspar Brook trails. The trails were packed solid to the summits of both mountains although it appeared prior hikers stopped when they reached the Gray ridge as we needed to wade through three feet of snow along the summit ridge to reach the sign. There is little snow on the trails until a mile or so up from Avalanche Camp. We switched to snowshoes at one point, but Microspikes could have been used for the entire hike. There is some ice on the Feldspar Brook, Skylight, and Gray trails, but nothing which would warrant full crampons.
