- Just have fun!

I have a simple hiking goal for 2011....

To enjoy being able to be out on the trails.

After 11 months of knee rehab I'm finally back out on the trails and enjoying every moment.

Finish 52 with a view
Finish Alpine 100
Do several bushwhacks - locations TBD
Do more hike up ski down trips
Ski Tux finally (most likely not over the headwall though...)
Explore abandoned trails
Do the Wapack trail run, hoping for 7 hours or less
Run a marathon
Somehow get used to hiking only once a month starting this summer

Complete the NE111 with my son before he heads off to the Marine Corps
Enjoy some time in Baxter State Park
Hike a few repeat peaks in the ADKs
Run at least two 10Ks sub 50 min
Complete the Rachel Carson Challenge and the Megatransect
More road and mountain biking
Figure out how to increase the length of days from 24 to 36 hours so I can do more of these things

- At least two winter weekends up north and a couple of new winter 4Ks
- Another attempt at the spring weekend with a night at Lakes and the Alpine Garden in bloom
- Seek the Peak #4 with a couple of other peaks thrown in for good measure
- At lease 9 more 4Ks total this year to reach the 30 mark
- A couple of backpacking weekends in the Whites this summer
- Another shot at the late summer or early fall trip to Baxter. Katahdin and whatever else presents itself.
- Flags on the 48. Really hated to miss that one this year.

No numbers just get out more on weekends.

Get my wife to climb a mountain & do an overnight back pack with me.

Get a good camera and start posting trip report pictures.

Do a multi day hike here: http://www.fogvg.org/

Pick off a few more ADK 46 and winter 46.

Bike commute in the good weather.

Love and laugh more. :):D

This is also one of my favorite threads of the year. Here are my plans so far:

Definites:

One week camping trip in Arizona with 3YO daughter and wife in February, we will be going to Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Superstition Wilderness
40 mile dayhike in Grand Canyon
One week in Beartooth Wilderness, may make an attempt on Granite
One week backpacking with wife and daughter in Wind River Range
Another Hut Traverse dayhike in Whites, I may do the harder old style traverse starting at Madison
Bob Marshall Traverse (13 4000ers in a day) in Adirondacks
One week backpacking in Sierra Nevada with daughter and wife

Wish List, pending partners, time, support, etc:

Mahoosuc Traverse dayhike
Maine 4K's in a day
18 4000' peaks dayhike in ADK's that I am scoping
Double pemi in a day
Double ADK Great Range in a day
North-South Baxter State Park Traverse in a day

If anyone it interested in any of my wish list hikes, I would like to speak with you about the potential to pull one of these off in 2011.

- Stay healthy (always my first exercise goal)
- Finish NH 4,000 footers with Kat
- Lead 4 hikes
- Hike more with my wife (since she is also my girl friend I get two for one here)
- Do at least 2 backpacking trips
- Have a good time, all the time

  1. Make decision on whether to have a full or partial knee replacement (torn meniscus) * :(
  2. Knock down some Winter NH 4ks (depends on knee)
  3. Go to La Quinta, CA (Palm Springs area) in March
  4. Root for the Patriots to win the Super Bowl!!
  5. Spend as much time as possible in Rangeley, ME :)

- can more goodies from my garden

finish the NH W48. Finish my third round of NH 48. Help my brother in law finish the NH 48.

For 2011, I have only one goal : start the most popular thread of all VFTT's history without anyone getting banned

You'll have to get injured in the closed part of the Ossipees while attempting the winter speed record and requiring a rescue with a $25,000 fine while failing to purchase the prerequisite WMNF parking pass

In 2010 I finished the 300 highest and 250 most prominent peaks in NH, expect to work lower on both lists this year.

Last year climbed one 100p peak in ME, one in VT, and none in NY - need to get busy or people will start to say I'm not serious about those lists.

Several years ago I finished my Project 366 of climbing at least one peak on every calendar date (not all the same year), in 2011 will try to complete missing dates for a NH peak (any col depth). But most of them are during rifle deer season when I usually hiked in other states, to avoid bushwhacking then I need to investigate more no-hunting properties such as Audubon and peaks with roads to the summit.

If I can get up a NH4k peak this winter it will be my 40th (non-consecutive) winter with one.
