Date of Hike: 1/8/11

Trail Conditions: There was just a dusting of snow from today atop the 1" - 2" of snow pack. Icy in spots.

Special Equipment Required: I saw a few girls barebooting it, but traction is essential. Up top a few other hikers and myself discussed and came to the conclusion that Microspikes were definitely the way to go for the trail conditions. Many had yak trax but they weren't adequate. Trekking poles also made for a smoother hike.

Comments: I ascended via the boulder trail(orange blazes) and descended via the Main Trail(blue) using the ledges bypass. The orange trail was icy in spots. The blue trail was sheer ice in several places. Avoid the blue trail unless you have proper traction.

Weather was cloudy up top but still had a pretty decent view of the lake.
