The road in to the Flater's cabin was not entirely plowed so we had an extra .5 mile or so to add to the hike. We arrived a day after an 18+ in snowstorm so the trail had yet to be broken by foot or snowmobile. Snow depths on the trail varied from knee deep to waist deep...off trail waist deep everywhere. It took about 3 very strenuous hours to hike the 1.8 miles into the orchard. While we were there a guy on a snowmobile did come down the trail from the north which made walking SO much easier. However, overnight on the 9th it snowed again leaving 6" and was still snowing as we left. As of the morning of 3/10/2011 the road was plowed, but as I mentioned it was still snowing heavily so I am sure more accumulated. BRING SNOWSHOES!
