Trail conditions: packed boot track on all trails up to Spur/Hincks junction. Hard-packed, but not icy. Above Hincks junction, snowshoe track with several inches of fresh snow on top. slick underneath, but not icy either. Equipment used: bare boots to Spur Trail, microspikes up to Crag Camp (only on the way up), snowshoes above Crag Camp.

Comments: Though I only made it to the Knight's Castle (el. 4600 feet, approximately), the snowshoe track on the Spur Trail appeared to continue on towards Thunderstorm Junction. In addition to the aforementioned trails, King Ravine Trail and Hincks Trail were both broken in as well (at least at their respective junctions). On the other hand, the Randolph Past east of its junction with the Short Line was not. Snow depths range from 2-3 feet at lower elevations to 6 feet plus near treeline. Despite such copious amounts of snow, right now is a good time to explore some of the less-traveled White Mountain trails: the thick crust formed by the recent rain-snow cycles easily supports snowshoes.
