I went up the Gorge Brook Trail to the summit. I took the AT, then the Carriage Road and the Snapper Trail on the descent. With the walk in and out from Rt 118, I figure that's close to 10 miles. The summit conditions were superb. The wind was barely a breeze, the sun was strong, and the temps were in the upper 20's F. NO BUGS AT ALL! The trail was fine for barebooting. I used Stabilicers above treeline. Because of other accurate trip reports on VFTT, I knew enough to leave the snowshoes in the truck. Just a great day. Thank you DOC.
