Gorge Brook mostly dry to the Ross McKenney plaque. Traces of rotting spine thereafter increasing to pretty much continuous snow cover & spine after 4000' until treeline. Barebooted, snow soft enough to kick steps but only postholed 2 or 3 times. Summit is bare. Soft, packed snow continuous from treeline down Carriage Road until just past the barrier rocks. Some running water on the road but not muddy. Snapper damp but good overall with minimal mud.

Poles helpful for the snow covered sections. Carried stabilicers but got by without them. Snowshoes not required for this route.

Trade off for no views was NO bugs. Maybe 20 people on the summit at 12:30. Met a nice group of 11 lady friends inaugurating their quest for the NH 48. Go grrrls! My first NH 4K too. Looking forward to the Carters and Wildcats next month.
