I'm looking for a list of starting gear for sport climbing. I'm just starting out, I have some experience climbing. But I would like to get more into it. All I'm looking for is a starting list of gear so I can climb in Rumney.
Thank You, Kurt

Sport climbing is moderately inexpensive to start:

Here's what you'll need, with some low end price estimates (you can spend a lot more on each of these things).

Harness: 50

Shoes: 80

Helmet: 40

Chalk bag (if your hands sweat): 15

Rope (if you don't have a partner who already has one): 130

Belay device: 15

A few locking carabiners: 3 for 40

About ten quickdraws (two non locking biners and a short runner, needed if you are going to lead): 10 for 120

Odds and ends (other runners, a few other doodads): 40

Have fun! Rumney is a great place to play. Get good instruction and be safe.

Here's a short list. Remember, this is sport climbing so you will be clipping bolts.

one rope try and get a 60 meter 10 or 10.5 for wear
harness
shoes
chalk bag and chalk
belay device
8-12 quick draws
That should do it for most clip and go routes. You may need more draws though depending on the route
