Heron rookery and Conservation area near Boston

It was our pleasure to join good friends on a trip to a heron rookery and gorgeous conservation areas. The sights and sounds of the rookery aren't done justice by the photos. A magical place and time.

Rookeries

Great photos! We did the same with friends of ours during our South Carolina trip last month. They introduced us to the Audubon Swamp at Magnolia Plantation. It was an amazing experience; especially seeing the rookery of various birds. Here's a look at our photos:

Doesn’t appear to be the one along Route 2 in Littleton and Boxborough (just east of Route 495). Where is it?

No idea of its location. We were passengers in a car and wasn't paying attention. Someplace out a few miles past Walden Pond. Parked at gate near a water treatment station and then it was a 5 minute walk until we neared the marsh.

That's Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Concord, MA.

How smooth are the trails? Are they walkable on crutches (partial weight-bearing)?

I believe the location is part of the White Pond Conservation Area in South Concord. The gate area is part of the town water property by Dover Road. I have been out there before and it is a beautiful area.
