We went up Adams first then went on over to Madison. There were no obstacles on the entire loop.
The trails for the most part are dry. The small stream crossings were dry and the larger ones were almost dry. The only exception was the Watson crossing heading up to Valley Way. That crossing was quite easy.
We encountered a few bugs on the summit of Adams, otherwise we didn't see any.
From a dog's standpoint water was the biggest issue today. The trails were mostly dry but there was a bit of water here and there including a couple of crevices on the summits with some rain water.
This was my first time (and perhaps the last, but it's redlined now anyway) to take The Watson path down. There are great views down to the tree line. The trail is very steep and rocky and the descent was tedious. It took us quite a bit more time than it would have if we had gone back down Osgood and Valley way. Even though there were quite a few folks out on the trails today, we saw no one from the Summit of Madison all the way down Watson to the stream crossing. This is obviously a trail that is not often used.
Elevation gain 5000'
Distance about 10 miles
