The first part of the trail to Middle Mountain is often referred to as the Gates Brook Trail (or sometimes the Gates Brook Road). But regardless, thanks to the very commendable work of the Shelburne Trails Club, this recently restored pathway to Middle Mountain was in very good shape. There were no issues with blowdowns, mud, or water crossings.
One short segment of trail had some seasonal weeds encroaching on the trail corridor, but this did not present any issues with following the pathway.
