Trail Conditions: Hiked early am from 6:45 back 1pm. Very slippery on fairly steep rock faces on approaches to Mt. Surprise and Moriah. Slow going and good traction important.

Comments: 3200 elevation gain. Excellent 360 degree views from Moriah well worth the trip. Only one other hiker this clear but humid am. Hiking a north face early can be socked in and wet but the payoff is a drier return with the sun at your back. Only room for two cars at trailhead in Gorham. If crowded, park a few hundred feet back by powerlines. My first 4000 footer in NH in 12 yrs. Time to get back to this!
