Agreed! The half side zips definately help and I am even able to get the bottom cuffs over my alpine ski boots -- but full zips would make these the perfect wind/rain/cold weather pant.

I have a pair of the Taku pants as well. And while I agree that they're well-made, I was a bit disappointed as they're not as warm as those made with Schoeller Dryskin. In order for the Taku's to be comparable to the Schoeller's, I need to wear longjohns.

My non winter hard shell is Arc Teryx Alpha SL, I would recommend.

I might be a little wary of wearing it off trail in cripple brush areas as it is thin and might rip easy. Might be better of with a tougher shell for those conditions. Plan ahead.
