Date of Hike: 1 October 2011
Trail Conditions:
Starr King Trail is covered in leaves and slick but overall is in good shape. Well brushed.
Kilkenny Ridge Trail in this section is very wet and muddy. Well brushed.
Plenty of silt in the water bars along the route, probably from Irene.
Special Equipment Required: Gaiters were nice today and I put a rain jacket on when I was stopped but hiked in a long sleeve shirt and shorts all day. Pack cover was pretty essential to keep things dry.
Comments: Turned out to be a pleasant day given the forecast. Rain was light and mostly just a mist most of the day...beautiful ridge to hike in this weather - I would have liked to be able to keep going along the KRT. Congrats again to the gentleman finishing his 48 on the summit. A champagne toast in the mist!
