From the ski area parking lot, I hiked up the Midstate Trail to summit then down the Pine Hill Trail to the Park HQ parking lot. Hiked back up the Pine Hill trail and down Midstate. The mud was partly frozen in many places and ice was coating many of the rocks. No traction was needed however. Gave my trail map away to a couple of ladies that had no idea where they were. There are lots of trails on Wachusett so if you aren't familiar with the mountain it's a good idea to pick one up since they are free and available at most of the trailheads.
