Thanks for the info on my favorite mountain area of new england!
I wonder if Sugarloaf has their eyes on more ski trails in that area?The area must be on the right as you head down the c.v.r.below the Crocker cirque..
 
Hmmmm. The article states:

"The lands are part of a working forest owned by Plum Creek..."

I wonder if the road(s) will ever be maintained again, if the logging industry pulls out.
 
Sugarloaf almost certainly has no interest in that side at all. They're in the midst of a vast expansion onto Burnt Mountain, creating glades and what's called "sidecountry" terrain (as opposed to backcountry) as logging operations take place. You can see the expansion here:

It's called Brackett Basin. We skied it last year, just the initial section of phase 1, and it was some extremely righteous tree skiing. :)
