Left Zealand Falls Hut early Sunday morning (1/29) to climb Hale and return to 302 via the Mt. Hale trail.

Lend-a-Hand was unbroken, 10-20 inches of snow with a nice crust. After the first two miles, another hiker met me coming down, so trail was broken to summit. Mt Hale trail was already well broken out.

Barebooting to hut on Saturday was fine, though many others wore snowshoes (hut was full that night). Snowshoes were essential on Lend-a-Hand, though a group from the hut came after me and it may be barebootable at present. No traction needed--no icy patches anywhere.

Sunday was a lovely day to hike--not too cool, sun and clouds, not too windy.
