Hello fellow hikers !!

We're planning to spend most of Saturday and most of Sunday in the Londonderry, VT area and are looking for some "good" hikes to do. By "good" we mean:

* not too short: we like to be out 3-6 hours at a whack
* interesting things to see along the way (vista's, cascades/waterfalls, wildlife, etc)
* loops preferred
* dogs allowed

Big "thanks" in advance for any suggestions.

As an aside - we're not committed to Londonderry, but want to stay in the Central / Eastern / Southern Green Mountains. If there's another town more central to a couple of nice day hikes, please recommend.

Thanks again !!

A bit west of Londonderry on rt 11/30 is where the AT/LT crosses Rt 11/30 where there is a big parking lot. You could hike north to Bromley (Don't know the dog situation, they might not like dogs at the summit which has skiers) but alternatively, you can park in the same spot and hike Spruce mt (southbound. Be VERY careful crossing the road though) Spruce has a nice summit spur trail that has a great view towards Manchester, Mt Equinox, etc.. and has a shelter just a little past the spur trail to the summit.

Both are easy hikes and can be done together to with a stop back at the car..

Griffith Lake and Baker are both very nice destinations. Can't go wrong, there.

Another one could be Little Rock Pond coupled with Green Mtn.

The section from VT 140 south to 30/11 was a pleasant surprise on my LT thru-hike. Nice country.

Thanks again for the suggestions !!

We ended up going to Griffith Lake on Saturday, amidst 40 MPH winds and Snow squalls !! The snow was quite deep on the ridge and we were breaking the trail so we decided against adding Baker Peak.

On Sunday, we did the 12 mile loop to Stratton Mountain and Stratton Pond. WHAT a GEM of a hike !! The view off the tower was outstanding !!

Would highly recommend this hike !!
