Sunday April 1, 2012:
Ledges mostly dry and ice free. 1/4 inch new snow in the trees and on the trail above 2500". Top 500 feet of Moat trail north of North Moat is icy and some of the ledges have unavoidable ice. Only a few scattered sections of monorail snow. The lower Red Ridge trail is wet and muddy in the usual places; otherwise very little mud.
Microspikes/light traction useful for the Moat Mountain trail North from North Moat down to the ledges. There are some ice and wet ledges in spots but they are easily avoidable.
Great spring hike with lots of excellent views. The rain and clouds held off until much after the hike
