Rather than merely walk the Auto Road to the top of Mt Prospect, I parked at the trailhead for the Heritage Trail on Martin Meadow Pond Road, and then used a combination of the following trails:
Heritage Trail; Around-the-Mountain Trail; Davidge Path; Old Carriage Path; plus a short segment of Auto Road.
For the segments that I hiked along the Heritage Trail and the Around-the-Mountain Trail, they were generally in good shape, although a bit muddy in some spots. The Davidge Path was a bit overgrown and had a number of blowdowns. The Old Carriage Path was very wet and muddy, especially at the upper end where there was running water on some segments of trail.
