Date of Hike: Saturday, June 2nd
Trails: South Meadow Truck Trail #78 on map, Van Hovenberg #61 on map, Phelps Spur #62 on map
Trail Conditions: The truck trail is in good shape as usual, there is one new blowdown that will need a chainsaw to cut, it's less than a mile from the trailhead and you can walk under it. Van Hovenberg Trail is in ok shape, muddy in places, the water crossing was easy but there is a high water bridge if it gets to dicey. Trail up to the summit of Phelps is in good shape, just awful rooty footing in spots.
Comments: No views today but always a nice hike into Marcy Dam from the South Meadow Truck Trail. They are starting to build the new bridge about a tenth of a mile down river from the dam, and I noticed there is a makeshift crossing with some old planks just below the dam to go along with the one furthur down the river that actually is marked.
