Harriman State Park CLOSED weekend of Sept 29-30, 2012

Advisory: NYS Parks is advising patrons to refrain from hiking in backcountry of Harriman State Park this weekend due to an ongoing, multi-jurisdictional police search. The park, located in Rockland and Orange counties, will also close its Beaver Pond Campground until further notice. To find alternative recreational opportunities, please visit www.nysparks.com.

I was there over the weekend. Lake Welch Beach and Beaver Pond Campground are closed, but I saw a more or less normal (considering the weather) amount of cars at the trailheads in the western part of the park.
