tr.cond;Gale river trail- muddy, especially in short reboot section.trace snow toward ridge line[garfield]New section needs to just settle in,good work by the builders.
Garfield Ridge trail-ICEY!!Bring your spikes.Trace snow with very iced over slabs.Lots of people going very slow with/without traction.
Garfield trail-smooth with melting ice and slight trace up top.some mud down low.Crossings no problem even with lots of rain water flowing.
spec.equipment;micros needed for now till snowshoes time.some warmer then normal gear for this time of year.Felt like winter.
comments; Spectacular views of leaves and snow on top higher peaks for this time of year. What a treat to have winter like conditions today. My pack was soaked from snow on the conifers, goal was to just do a loop and skip Garfield and just get the lessor 2 peaks to the east of him.I got the easy walk over one to the east on the ridge[3590]but declined the bushwack one[3667] due to thick spruce.Met a cool dude doing a pemi,he was kicking butt.Garfield ridge trail is sweet but rough, earning its rep.Lot of hikers out this fine saturday with varied degrees of preparation.
