Via Gorge Brook Trail, Snapper Trail and Carriage Road

All of these trails are in very good shape, only three significant blowdowns - one easy step-over and one tricky duck-under on Carriage Road, plus one big leaner on upper Gorge Brook.

Just a dusting of snow at the trailhead, increased to 3-4" on the ridge with a few 12-18" drifts to plow through just below the summit. Some scattered icy patches especially down low, didn't use my microspikes but came VERY close to putting them on multiple times, and I'm sure after the storm later this week they will be necessary. Bit breezy up high but not as bad as forecasted - maybe 15mph with 20-25mph gusts, but we were able to hunker down and enjoy the view and a decent break. All of the mud on lower Gorge Brook Trail was frozen and easily navigable. Saw only two other people all day.

Hannah had a great day and was excited to hike in the snow. Easy dog trails today with a decent amount of running water below treeline. No issues with any water crossings.

Great day for a hike that had an early wintery feel!
