At this time of year, it's not unusual for trail conditions to change rapidly. This is definitely the case for this trek!
On 26-December, the trail conditions consisted of a mixture of light snow and sporadic ice from trailhead to summit. Only light traction (Microspikes) was needed.
It's now just one day later, and there has been a significant snowfall. My guess is that the trail conditions now require snowshoes!
My trek also included a bushwhack to a ledge below the summit of Mt. Pemigewasset's east face.
Photos from this trek are at my BLOG.
