Date of Hike: Sat. 19 Jan, 2013
Trail Conditions: 3 to 6” Fresh snow over the melted trails. Good firm base for ascent on Imp and North Carter. Trail to middle and south were fairly good, some drifting. South Carter to Zeta was broken up by booters, and frozen in place. The same was true to Carter Dome and down to the notch. Significant ankle turners, deep frozen post holes. 19 mile Brook was smooth and firm with much melting at numerous brook crossings,
Special Equipment Required: Snow shoes, crampons for steeps south Carter Dome and Wildcat A attempt. Micro spikes out the 19 Mile Book Tr.
Comments: Started Wildcat A, turned back due to time considerations and energy level. Trail was well tracked by snow shoes, in good shape. Good weather. 37/48 winter. Thanks Brian Taunsend for another good day in the whites.
