We're thinking of skiing into Rocky Branch Shelter from the 302 side. We hiked in a couple of years ago,but the road was not plowed to the trailhead. Does anyone know if it's the same situation this year?
Of course,if we don't get some colder temps and snow,we'll probably just skate in!

the two times that I've been in there in the winter, it has only been plowed to the last house. There has been plowed parking at that point, though.

It adds almost a mile, I think, to the trip.

It was plowed to that first parking area a couple of weeks ago. The problem is that if the snow gets to be only a few inches deep sometimes people drive down all the way to the summer trailhead and really chew up the snow in the process making it lousy to try to ski on. At least that has happened several times in the past.

In case you don't know. There is also a ski trail that starts from the winter parking area that runs near the river and eventually links up near the summer trailhead. Of course we are probably going to need better snow conditions before that is really usable.
