Trail had a well-packed base throughout with increasing new (and from trees) snow with elevation. I broke several inches of powder above the Rollins intersection. Lots of snow in the woods above Camp Rich made the steeps more pedestrian than usual.
I wore snowshoes car-to-car. They were marginally necessary down low but perfect for the conditions above.
Crossing was mellow with the brook at low volume. There were several blowdowns, none difficult to negotiate.
Kind of a gloomy day but the trees were beautiful with their burden of snow. Not a soul on the trail.
