Mt. Jackson
Date: 3-2-13
Trail Conditions: Thanks to the efforts of doc and others who spent hours breaking trail the packed powder footing was in great shape. Lots of foot traffic today on the trail. There was a mix of bare-booters and snowshoers but I did not see many significant post holes to speak of.
Water crossing was thickly snow-bridged. A little bit of ice and exposed rock on the final scramble but nothing technical.
Special Equipment Required: I wore snowshoes the whole time. Maybe goggles for the summit's strong winds.
Comments: Visibility was very low today but the trail was beautiful. The Notch has clearly had a massive amount of snow since the warm snap several weeks ago. Once again Owl's Head will have to wait Ready when you are Creaky Knees, Royboy, and Spaderman!
