Owl's Head 3-16-13: Lincoln Woods, Black Pond Bushwhack, Brutus Bushwhack
Trail Conditions: All trails were very well broken out with a hard to semi-soft base layer. Areas of the Brutus Bushwhack were icy though. Lower sections of the Black Pond Bushwhack had deep, exposed mud.
The river crossings were easily manageable but sections of snowbridges in high traffic areas began to break down by the end of the day.
Special Equipment Required: We brought snowshoes but did the entire trip in microspikes. I wish we had not left our crampons behind for parts of the Brutus Bushwhack where we could not get a good purchase at times.
