Conditions:
Ravine Road was packed and barebootable. A good xc ski track is laid out to the Ravine Lodge.
Al Merril well packed to John Rand Cabin. After that, a few inches of dry powder. Some jerk moose postholed a good chunk of the trail from the cabin to the overlook. Lots of branches in the way with the new snow making a shell required most of the way.
Asquam had a good base to follow. The new snow was 5-8 inches deep. A couple of walk around blowdowns. More branches in the face, especially alround Mt Jim.
Beaver Brook was well packed to treeline. Above treeline was very icy. Traction would help a lot, but it isn`t steep, so one could rock hop if determined enough.
Gorge Brook was well packed and great for sledding down. Trail is in fantastic shape, and can easily be barebooted.
Equipment:
We used snowshoes going up past the cabin. Barebootes to the summit, and sledded down/barebooted out.
Comments:
Branches in tbe face was the biggest issue going up. All crossing were snowbridged.
