Date of Hike: Mar. 23rd

Trail Conditions: Hiked up Zealand Road. Barebooted for awhile but decided to put on snow shoes. Would have at Hale Brook Trail anyway. Hale Brook had one person up before me so packed down ok. Fun little traverse above the brook enough for 1 1/2 width snow shoe. No real views from Hale. Hiked lend a had to Zealand hut. Trail was drifted over most of the way. Easy to follow with some visible snowshoe track or blazes. Drifts were shin to knee deep. Water crossings no problem. Hike out Zealand trail long and flat.

Special Equipment Used: Snow shoes. the bare boot aficianodos have done a number on the base up the road.

Comments: this is a great back country ski area. Lot if people had ski and shoe combo. Some short but nice glades right above the hut. Will do this one skis next year.
