Much of the trail is usually bare-bootable, although a snowfall can quickly change that. There are some open ledges nearer the summit that make some kind of crampon (or Stabilicers, etc.) a good idea.
 
The trail is usually one of the first packed out after a storm. It can get icy in spots especially after a few warm days and cold nights. There are a couple of spots after you leave the ledges and wrap around the back side where crampons or instep crampons would be handy. The last 100 feet prior to the tower can also get icy.
