I was rolling down RT 113 on Saturday, 31 Aug and noticed a work site at the former suspension bridge across the Wild River at Hastings. The old bridge was taken out by Irene a couple years ago. It is being replaced by a very sturdy-looking single span steel bridge. It's ugly as hell but it should hold up better than the suspension bridge. The work area is currently a no-entry zone but there was no one to stop us looking around on the weekend.

The bridge is in place although it lacks decking. I would guess later this fall and that they want it ready for snow machines this winter.

It this the crossing at the northern end of the Highwater Tr? Any word if the bridge is open yet?

Yes, this is at the north end of Highwater Tr., and it is open.
