I'll answer my own question
The trail seem to get very little use beyond the Potash junction and the ski trail junction. The water crossings as of today are all good but but with the warm weather they may not last (water flow is low though). I followed some fresh boot tracks so with snowshoes it was just like breaking trail the whole way and the snow got quite deep as I ascended. The person ahead of me lost the trail in several places as there are no blazes. Care had to be taken to avoid side-hill sliding for long stretches along the river.
But what a beautiful trail and a gorgeous day to enjoy it.
