This trail was in excellent shape. Well blazed; no water crossings; no blowdowns.
This trail is a ridge walk, and doesn't really lead to a peak per se. However, it does provide several extremely nice views along the way, including features within the notch itself, such as unique rock formations like Table Rock and Index Rock. And, there are distant vistas eastward into Maine, and close-up westward views overlooking Lake Gloriette and the Balsams Resort.
The trail is only 1.7 miles in length, but it packs a lot of good stuff into that short distance. What it lacks in quantity is offset by quality!
A few snapshots are at my BLOG.
