what about numbers for nh

I'm not sure if any of the linked stories mentioned it, but NHF&G is conducting an extensive survey this winter that will include radio collar tracking and aerial surveys, this is part of an effort to provide a baseline estimate of current populations. I helped affix an antenna today to a firetower that will be hooked to a data logger.

Some points to note with this discussion:
The winter tick affecting the moose is not the same insect as the common wood, deer, or dog ticks you commonly encounter. Although observations stated regarding apparent spread may reflect others.
A biologist recently described a discussion with counterparts in ME & VT and both said tick infestation is not affecting their states overall herds; ME only so much an issue in the west especially in/near the Whites, VT culled populations recently through increased hunt permits and the rebounding herd has been very healthy.
