In today's Union Leader. 30-day comment period on logging proposal that would affect ski trails at the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation in the WMNF.

Thanks for the post.
Refer to p. 29 of the USFS public comment package for a summary of acreages / actions (e.g. thinning / selective cut / clearcut). This is a large project but the USFS is supposed to be doing sustainable forestry. If you are concerned and want a second opinion on what this means for the area, I would try calling someone on the Jackson Conservation Commission (http://www.jacksonvillage.net/Public_Documents/JacksonNH_BComm/conservation) or the Society for the Protection of NH Forests (www.spnhf.org) -- I would be surprised if both of them didn't at least have an eye on a project of this size.

IMHO, if you really want to get mad at a forestry operation, focus on the 22,000 acre timbering operation on the TR Dillon lands in Success and Berlin.
