North Tripyramid via Pine Bend Brook Trail - 2/15/14

Trail Conditions: 12-16" of new, heavy snow, some drifts up to 4-5' in places. First couple of miles are fairly easy, couple of big blowdowns, but all navigable. Brook crossings are easy. The steepest portion up the small ravine had an amazing amount of snow.

Equipment: snowshoes, snowshoes, and snowshoes

Comments: Great day to be on the trail. Wife and I parked near Sabbaday and started walking around 9:30am, passed two ladies and their dogs about 1 hour in and found only one track ahead of us (turned out to be the legend Tim Muskat). Heavy, huge snowdrifts in places made for fairly slow moving trip. Definitely an experience. So thankful for Tim's track to at least keep us just focused on helping pack down the trail. Made it to North Tri at about 12:45p and passed on heading over to Middle b/c we didn't want to get stuck on our ride home in the snow that was coming later. We had some fun sledding down and were totally covered in the fresh snow by the time we were done. Trail is well packed out now. A great exhausting day to be out in the woods!
