Route: Lincoln Woods Trail --> Franconia Brook Trail --> 13 Falls tent site --> (round trip Twin Brook Trail --> Frost Trail) --> Lincoln Brook Trail upper --> Owl's Head Slide --> Lincoln Brook trail lower --> Black Pond Bushwhack --> Black Pond Trail --> Lincoln Woods trail

Trail Conditions: The whole range of conditions - w/ a tiny bit of snow ice between rocks on upper part of Twin Brook Trail near Galehead Hut (which I imagine has melted by now)

Special Equipment Required: trekking poles helpful for aggressive rock-hopping.

Comments: Thought I'd post this to give some sense of conditions on the Lincoln Brook Trail in its entirety.

Day 1: Lincoln Woods and Franconia Brook all in great shape - Hellgate brook was the only crossing that required some strategy. Twin Brook Trail and Frost Trail in outstanding shape - the former is one of my new favorite trails for how well it's cut/maintained while still remaining wild. No bears at 13 falls that night.

Day 2: Tackled Lincoln Brook trail from north to south - crossings OK over the falls; the trail was in excellent shape along the old logging road right up to height-of-land. A couple sections hard to follow but ultimately trail corridor was clear all the way to boggy area at the top. Kudos to whoever maintains this section - there were new bog bridges in place hewn from local logs which must have taken a great deal of time and effort. Beautiful isolated area.
Descending from the height of land to the slide, from the north, LBT eventually becomes much harder to follow, especially just north of Owl's Head Slide. It appears in highlighting where the slide path is, someone has made the way to continue from the south up LBT very difficult. North of the slide path the LBT is difficult to follow for a couple tenths of a mile. Owls Head slide wet, but path extremely easy to follow.
South of slide, LBT also in rough shape due to eroded footbed -- large portions look more like streambed or abandoned logging road. One crossing of a Lincoln Brook tributary about 2.5 miles up, on the west side of the river, and the trail to the north, is especially hard to route-find.
Black pond bushwhack easy to follow at both ends, not so much in the middle.
