Trails: Livermore Road, Mt. Tripyramid Trail (via North Slide), Livermore Road

Trail Conditions: The road is, well, a road. Couple of stepovers heading on the short portion of the Mt. Tripyramid Trail to the slide. North Slide is eroded towards the bottom - so skirt to the left. Middle and upper portions of the slides are steep, dry, loose, and fun. Tri Trail between the peaks were clear and dry. South Slide was steep, loose, and sandy. Once off the slide, it's 1-2 miles of flat trail with a few easy crossings back to Livermore Road for more roadwalking.

Equipment: None. But I'd tie your water bottles down or stick them in your bag so you don't have them fall out.

Comments: On a trip back home from CT, we decided we had time to make a detour to a hike we had yet to do before. We knew the slides would be dry, so it was a good time to do it. We arrived at the trailhead just after 2pm to a good dozen cars. The walk was uneventful all the way to the slide, but it was hot enough to get a little sweat going and loosen up. North Slide was awesome. A few awkward steps but overall just a fun scramble right up to the peak. The slide opens up right at the top and it ended up being the best views we've had from anywhere in the Sandwich area (and especially in comparison to the rest of the views on the Tris). Clear shot of the Presis and the Pemi wilderness. The only drawback were the bugs, they were vicious headed up the North Slide and at the N. Tripyramid summit. They at least kept us moving across the peaks and down the South Slide - which is much more tame, similar to Owl's Head slide we thought. The walk back out was uneventful, with a little jogging thrown in there to tire those legs out further. I can see what all the talk was about for North Slide!
