A bit late posting these photos... they are from the weekend of 6/21 when we spent three nights at South Branch Pond Campground in Baxter State Park. Hiking agenda was as follows:

Saturday 6/21 - Traveler Loop counterclockwise
Sunday 6/22 - South Branch & Black Cat Mountains loop, counterclockwise

A few more shots here.

Our group of nine had a great trip. It was worth a few black fly bites (ok a lot of black fly bites) to enjoy uncrowded trails, cool nights and a quiet campground.

Great photos. The South Branch Pond area rarely gets a lot of use, despite having numerous campsites. I expect for every 1000 folks who visit the south end of the Park only one makes it to the north end. The topography of the pond relative to the adjacent mountains reminds me of the Lake Willoughby area in VT.

Hard to beat the Traveler loop on a nice day especially if its blueberry season.
