Was heading up to Chocorua a few weeks ago and was distracted by a very recent fir wave (or maybe just some storm damage). There were five trees blocking the trail. After breaking an axe handle, I went back down to get my spare axe 
and cleared four of the larger trees. I intend to go back to clear the largest spruce that is still there. It may require a small re-route as the fallen trees tore up the current path of the trail. It was amazing to see such a new clearing. It looks like a few more could come down in a decent wind storm.
