What are the odds?

What are the odds of 4-6 guys hiking in to Marcy Dam on a friday evening finding an unoccupied lean-to?

I don't have much winter experience, and would like to get a lean-to for our planned Marcy hike in a few weeks. Does anyone know what kind of crowds will usually be encountered?

I've hiked through Marcy Dam on a few Saturdays recently and have seen empty lean-to's. Never tried to find one on a Friday night though.

You can get lean-to's at the Adirondack Loj campground. If you don't have much winter experience and/or your equipment may not be ideal for a winter campout, being in close proximity to your car may be a good thing.
