This was one of those blue ribbon days! Azure blue sky, relatively calm winds, freshly white-capped high peaks, crisp air, warm sun, and everyone we met had a smile on their faces! And, to boot, we had a dog do tricks (for treats, of course) on the summit of Eisenhower. Doesn't get much better than this!
Trail conditions were well packed, with about an inch of fresh, all the way to the first outlook onto Eisenhower and Washington, right before the Webster Cliff trail. Got a little wind drifted after for a very short distance, but the summit of Pierce was wind-packed. Switched to snowshoes on summit of Pierce. Ridge between Pierce and Eisenhower was a little more drifted, with some windblown few inches over hard pack. Trail was all firm with negligible risk of post holing.
Equipment Required: Could have bare-booted up to first outlook, but we wore spikes, as did most hikers we saw. From then on, snowshoes most desirable, but a few made the trek to Eisenhower with just spikes.
