Trail Conditions: Wet. Water, water, everywhere, due to recent heavy rain but also a huge storm the rolled through Vermont on Friday night. You'll be walking in streambeds for much of the trail, and the rocks are slick and muddy. Both Hell Brook and Frenchman's Brook are quite high, Frenchman's was a major ford with trail washed out on the south bank, getting down to the creek itself was quite difficult. We found the going extremely slow due to the wet.

Special Equipment Needed: 100% Deet and extra socks, crocs or sandals for wading across streams. Hiking poles were helpful for the fords.

Comments: with all the rain the creeks are genuine fords. Bugs are out in force, black flies, mosquitoes and horseflies though they were tolerable as long as you kept moving.
