Packed snow most of the way, with deeper snow above the cabin. A few short icy spots past the Mt. Cabot trail junction (where the trail steepened). Several duck-under fallen trees.

Special equipment needed: Microspike and poles.

We brought snowshoes but never used them. Crampons not necessary.

Perfect day - it did start out cold; snow was squeaky under our poles. Met up with the notorious "Scrabble Couple" from Westford. Saw two gray jays the size of seagulls. http://summithikinginnewengland.blogspot.com/2016/03/mtcabot-winter-4k-1348-march-5-2016.html
