I'm posting this for anyone who wants a break from the ice in the Whites. Ascended Belknap Mt. via the Carriage rd. and the Warden's trail ( green trail). Carriage road is still closed and is completely dry. Once on the green trail ice is encountered, some very thick that basically cover the entire trail in some sections. It was wet so I barebooted, my partner felt better using the adjacent woods at times. For the descent, I suggested we use microspikes as my partner is new to the game and I wanted to preach safety first and using the right gear at the right time, not to mention, it's a lot easier to fall when descending. This is a nice range if your done with winter and are ready for spring conditions. My dog Bud relished in the water and mud that was everywhere. FYI, there are 12 peaks in the range and yes, there is a patch if your so inclined.
